Salling Group, Denmark

Salling Group, one of Denmark's largest retail chains, was the first in the country to install the Avocado Scanner at their Bilka hypermarket in Tilst. The launch generated immediate press coverage from DR.DK and Stiften.dk, and the store's own TikTok post reached 11,500 likes and 6,500 shares within days of going live. The decision was driven by a clear commitment to customer satisfaction.

Avocados in more carts, 25% sales uplift

One retailer installed the Avocado Scanner and tracked the impact over two months. For them, the results were clear: avocado sales increased by 25%, corrected for any marketing effects running in parallel. Before installation, avocados appeared in 1.7% of all shopping carts. That number went up to 2.3% after the scanner went live.

Use POS materials to guide shoppers in. A poster, a hanging sign, floor stickers leading the way. The more visible it is, the more it gets used.

Make it go viral

Post a short video on your store's social channels. Dozens of Avocado Scanners have gone viral on TikTok. Shoppers see it, share it, and come in to try it.

Announce it locally

Send a press release to local media. Several retailers earned editorial coverage simply by being first in their area. Free publicity that drives real traffic.

 K-Citymarket Vantaa is an early adopter and installed the scanner in June 2024. After 18 weeks of operation, they reported measurable results across every metric that matters to a produce manager. 

"We see in the last 18-week period an increase in sales of the most sold individual avocados and the whole segment. During the last 9-week period, waste in the segment went down. Shoppers responded immediately, and since then many Jumbo's in the Netherlands and Belgium have installed the Avocado Scanner.
