Quality control for avocado and blueberry, without cutting a single piece of fruit
Our scanners use near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to read the internal quality of fruit in about a second, without slicing, squeezing, or otherwise destroying it. Every piece tested stays saleable, so you can check far more of a batch and have the results instantly available.
For avocado, the scanner can assess dry matter, the parameter that drives eating quality and maturity decisions, along with ripeness level and early signs of stem-end rot before it is visible from the outside. For blueberry, it measures brix, the sugar content that signals eating quality, alongside visual defects such as bloom condition and sizing, as well as firmness. Growers, distributors, and retailers across South America, South Africa, and Europe already use this data to grade consistently, catch problems earlier, and make smarter shipping decisions.
We also work on shelf life prediction for blueberry. It is a layered parameter that depends on variety, growing conditions, and supply chain, so we build it together with each customer rather than promising one number out of the box. Alongside our QC work with growers and distributors, we also build a scanner made for supermarkets. Expo Alimentaria 2026
The show is Latin America's largest food industry trade show, taking place from 23 to 25 September 2026 in Lima, Peru. The event draws over 30,000 professional visitors and more than 750 exhibitors from over 20 countries across food processing, packaging, and agtech. OneThird will attend as part of the Nederland Lounge, a collective pavilion run by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Peru with support from NLAndes. It brings together Dutch companies to connect with Peruvian partners in sectors like precision agriculture, cold chain, and quality assurance.
